We often play as a criminal in the game, from car thieves to bank robbers, and we often make trouble for people everywhere in the game world, but it looks like that there are few games that let us play as a normal police officer. (Don’t say Leon in Resident Evil series, he has hardly ever worked in the police station.)
Fallen Tree Games has created a police simulation game, The Precinct. The game is set in the United States in the 1980s. You will play a rookie police officer in Averno City and maintain the law and order of the city.
Gameplay
Averno City is definitely a city worse than Gotham, and crime is everywhere. You can see speeding and street vandals everywhere, and it seems that everyone has illegal guns in their pockets. There is neither Gordon nor Batman in this city. As a rookie police officer, you have to work hard to deal with the crimes you see and restore order to the city.
The map style of the game is somewhat similar to GTA San Andreas, but it uses a semi-overhead perspective, and you need to explore the city on foot or by car. You can issue tickets for parking violations or speeding, and you can also stop fights or thefts while on patrol.
The gameplay is mainly about you moving around the city, questioning suspects, searching people, and deciding what charges (if any) to charge them with. Finally, you will be sent to be sentenced.
You need to deal with many repeated cases, but this game also has a storyline that allows you to participate in a big case, engage in gunfights with armed gangs, car chases, and showdowns with gang bosses.
Pros And Cons
The Precinct is unique in its gameplay, and its plot is also interesting. The game art is a good restoration of the United States in the 1980s. It is also worth praising that, although the game uses a bird’s-eye view, the game map is very three-dimensional. You sometimes need to go to areas such as factories to investigate, and combined with the dynamic weather system, it can bring a strong sense of immersion to players.
But the game also has some bugs and repetitive gameplay problems. Apart from the exciting gunfights and police chases, the rest of the game can easily make players feel drowsy.
