A Hidden Use For Spinning Strikes Ash Of War In Elden Ring Has Been Discovered - Deflecting Projectiles

Recently, I accidentally used Spinning Strikes Ash of War to block Margit’s daggers in Elden Ring. This revealed a new use for Spinning Strikes Ash of War - deflecting projectiles.

Although the game’s developers didn’t intend to hide this function, I didn’t realize it until recently.

A Hidden Use For Spinning Strikes Ash Of War In Elden Ring Has Been Discovered - Deflecting Projectiles

Spinning Strikes Can Neutralize Margit’s Dagger

Ash of War: Spinning Strikes, as the name suggests, is an Ash of War of Quality Affinity. It can be obtained by defeating Edgar Revenger in Revenger’s Shack during Liurnia during Hyetta questline, which includes Spinning Strikes and other items such as Elden Ring Runes.

Or obtain it by undoing the enhancement on Banished Knight’s Halberd dropped by Edgar. Players who are not used to killing non-hostile NPCs will not be able to obtain it before reaching Liurnia of the Lakes.

Ash of War allows Tarnished to use compatible weapons, that is, long-handled weapons, to rotate in place, and consumes fewer firepower points, turning it into an efficient source of melee damage.

I accidentally used Ash of War to neutralize Margit’s dagger in the game, and then I found that the special move of Spinning Strikes not only attacks multiple enemies at once, but also deflects projectile attacks.

But this scene was purely accidental. When Margit started to attack, the scene in the game was already halfway through, but Spinning Strikes was able to block every dagger. It can also effectively block some thrown objects in PvP.

Then I tried to repeat the above operation again, and to my surprise, it actually worked. When discussing with other players of this game in the game forum, I found that most players don’t know about this function of Spinning Strikes Ash of War.

Although Margit’s dagger is one of its least threatening attacks, the damage is not high, and it is easy to dodge by sweeping in other directions, and there is almost no need for any countermeasures, but even so, this discovery also suggests that we can try to use Spinning Strikes to block other bosses’ similar throwing attacks.

Even though we only recently discovered this secret of using Spinning Strikes, the developers didn’t keep it secret, but we just didn’t explore it.

Reading the description of Ash of War carefully, you will find that it clearly mentions this feature. The description of this skill says that it can make projectiles such as arrows ineffective when spinning.

In the game, other Ashes of War and spells, such as Zamor Ice Storm Sorcery and its weapon of the same name, can also bounce projectiles. In the future games, you can try more on your own to unlock various hidden functions.
