GTA 6 has become the most anticipated game of 2026, and it could potentially be the greatest open-world game ever created. This expectation isn't just built on the monumental success of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, but also because it represents their most significant investment in a project to date.
The development team has a remarkable talent for constructing entire worlds through a tapestry of minor, everyday activities. Think of the chores, fishing, and gambling in Red Dead Redemption 2. While these diversions may not appeal to everyone, they are integral to the world's authenticity.
Based on current information, GTA 6 will feature a vast array of its own daily activities and tasks. You'll have the freedom to engage in these pastimes between main story missions. As official details are still forthcoming, even the activities listed below, while highly probable, remain speculative.

Fishing
In one of the officially revealed images, Jason and his friend Cal Hampton are seen on a boat. Jason, holding a fishing rod, looks completely at ease, enjoying a leisurely moment under Florida sun while presumably catching their dinner.
This strongly suggests that a fishing mini-game will be included in GTA VI. The studio rarely showcases a character engaged in a specific, interesting activity in trailers or promotional material without intending to incorporate that feature into the final game.
Therefore, we can anticipate a fishing system in GTA 6 that may even surpass the already advanced one in Red Dead Redemption 2. That system featured a variety of fish species, different baits and lures for each, and even a stamina system for the fish, which would struggle against the player.
The fishing in GTA 6 could take it a step further, potentially allowing you to customize rods and boats, or even go fishing with friends.
Cage Fighting

While Jason is depicted fishing, Lucia appears to be engaged in an activity absent from GTA games after The Ballad of Gay Tony: cage fighting.
The melee combat in GTA games has traditionally felt somewhat rigid, lacking extensive combos or counter-moves. Red Dead Redemption 2 introduced some satisfying grappling animations, along with throws and blocks, adding a layer of depth, though it still wasn't a primary focus.
Given that GTA is fundamentally a shooting game, hand-to-hand combat likely won't be the central element. However, its presence in the trailer strongly indicates that cage fighting will be an activity. It could be introduced during a specific story mission and then become a recurring diversion you can participate in.
Gambling
GTA 5 featured a fully functional casino, so it's reasonable to expect a similarly impressive establishment in GTA VI where you can test your luck. Leaked files related to the game reference dice games, and it's almost certain that card games, slot machines, and horse racing will also be featured.
Golf
Golf has also been mentioned in files associated with GTA 6. This is more than just a rumor, as it has been largely confirmed through leaked test footage. Its inclusion isn't particularly surprising, given that golf was already a pastime in GTA 5.
Jet Skiing
The official trailer shows Jason piloting a jet ski with Lucia as his passenger. While you could technically perform similar actions in GTA 5 using a Seashark, the previous game lacked official jet ski events or competitions.
It would be interesting if they introduced side stories related to jet skiing, or perhaps a completely separate handling skill for boats and jet skis that you improve only by using those specific vehicles.
Nightclub Life
As seen in the trailer, there are numerous scenes set in nightclubs, featuring dancing, drinking, and various characters. It's logical to expect this to be a recurring activity. The studio wouldn't create such detailed environments solely for background ambiance.
There might be a story thread involving a nightclub, perhaps where Jason and Lucia go for a date, meet an associate, or receive a mission from a gang. Similar to the casino, it could be a place to spend money on drinks and entertainment, a venue to squander your in-game wealth.
Off-Road Racing

Off-road racing also appears to be a significant component of GTA 6. GTA Online already featured cool off-road racing activities, and with the next installment, they can undoubtedly expand on this.
The game's rendition of Miami will be larger, encompassing not only the urban areas but also tropical rainforests and swamps. The prospect of soaring over alligators in the wild during an off-road race certainly sounds exciting.
Illicit Deliveries / Heists
The trailer includes a scene of Lucia and Jason robbing a store, a staple of the series. The robbery system felt more organic in Red Dead Redemption 2, where it could extend to stagecoaches and trains. We can look forward to a more advanced version of this system in GTA VI, perhaps incorporating elements like hacking.
Leaked pre-alpha gameplay footage showcased what appeared to be an illicit delivery service. This involved hijacking an armored car or transport vehicle, stealing its contents, and transporting them back to a safe house while evading detection and capture.
Similar tasks, like secure deliveries, exist in GTA Online, but they are framed as legitimate formal jobs or hustles. The activity glimpsed in the leaked footage more closely resembled the stagecoach robberies from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Delivery Missions
GTA 6 will also include various delivery missions. These could be reminiscent of the farm deliveries from GTA Online, or classic tasks like delivering pizza or newspapers that have appeared in previous titles.
Racing
Finally, racing is an extremely likely activity, having been a staple of every GTA game since the 3D era began in 2001. This time around, we can expect more customization options, a wider variety of vehicle classes, and a more sophisticated handling model. Factors like suspension type and tire composition will significantly influence your vehicle's behavior, a detail that will certainly excite car enthusiasts.
These are not the only potential activities. Others, such as surfing and hunting, may also be included. However, current information is insufficient to confirm their presence. Even so, what has been discussed is more than enough to fuel anticipation.
