It's almost the end of April, and we all know what that means: Diablo 4's next expansion, Lord of Hatred, is just days away.
Yes, on April 28th, we'll experience a brand new class, the sunken lands called Skovos, new skill variants, and a new level cap. Many players are undoubtedly eager for it.
However, some players are skeptical. After Diablo 4's initial vanilla release in 2023, many players enjoyed the game for a few weeks - but after reaching the level cap and experiencing all the new content, some began to get bored.
This is mainly due to the endgame becoming uninteresting, leading them to typically move on to another game after a few weeks. This problem isn't unique to Diablo 4; I dare say most games of the same genre suffer from it.
However, Lord of Hatred's endgame changes things. Clearly, Blizzard recognized this issue and implemented a targeted design in Lord of Hatred, which I believe will not disappoint you.
Next, let me introduce you to the new endgame content and why you'll be captivated by it.
War Plans
Normally, participating in endgame activities has various entry requirements, so you can't just randomly play the endgame activities you like. For example, if you want to kill a boss, you must first loot Helltide event, and of course, find the boss.
While this gameplay is fun for many players, some are dissatisfied, which is why I'm introducing War Plans first.
War Plans allow players to quickly switch from one activity to another. Specifically, it provides a structured process; when you complete an activity, it guides you directly to the next quest, eliminating the need to painstakingly figure out how to meet the entry requirements for a particular activity.
Previously, the specific activities you could participate in were determined by a branching tree containing six options that you had to choose from.
In War Plans, you don't need to spend time searching for guides, looking for events to maximize resources, or worrying about focusing on a specific event or participating in every single one.
This significantly reduces the cost of playing and allows players to experience more endgame activities. This isn't a game you'll get tired of in a few weeks!
However, at the beginning of a season, creating a perfect build often requires sufficiently powerful Diablo 4 Items. After all, switching to the next event requires completing the previous one, and insufficient gear can prevent you from completing events, thus limiting your experience with more endgame activities. So, put some effort into your gear.
In any case, War Plans allows you to enjoy the game more freely and easily obtain high-value rewards.
Echoing Hatred
Players who love combat and challenges will definitely love it. In this mode, you'll fight like a brave and fearless warrior to the very end, as you'll stand in an endless arena.
In Echoing Hatred, after defeating a group of enemies, a new, stronger group will appear, and sometimes even a group of bosses - yes, this means the difficulty increases. Your goal is to survive to the end and kill as many enemies as possible.
Of course, the longer you survive, the more loot you'll get. So, prepare your best Diablo 4 Items and engage in combat for as long as possible. This is also a great way to quickly acquire a large amount of loot.
Additionally, the level cap in Echoing Hatred gradually increases as you progress, making its difficulty entirely dependent on your skill level. Even highly skilled players can enjoy the challenge.
My favorite aspect is that Echoing Hatred allows you to team up with other players. After all, the best gaming experience is with friends, and cooperating with friends to overcome difficulties is the most fun part of the game.
Fishing
If you ask me what my favorite endgame activity is - fishing!
Some might feel that fishing clashes with the tone of Diablo 4, like a terrifying robot boss suddenly appearing in Stardew Valley. But honestly, if a farming game were truly invaded by robots, wouldn't you be curious about what would happen next?
While Diablo 4 is renowned for its grand story, intense combat, and high degree of freedom, many players simply use it as a break from their tiring lives, and even combat enthusiasts sometimes want to fish.
When you're tired of fighting, you can simply take your fishing rod and wander around, or just quietly fish in your favorite spot - a unique way for gamers to relax. Each area has different fish species, and collecting different kinds is part of the fun.
However, the fishing function in this update is said to be very simple; you just need to click the fishing rod to catch a fish. Hopefully, they can make the fishing gameplay more interesting in the future.
