Baldur’s Gate 3 released its last major update, Patch 8, on April 15, which added a ton of new content and features, including 12 new subclasses, cross-play, photo mode, and more.
In addition, the update added new details to Minthara’s story, with many players discovering that after Patch 8 was released, previously cut dialogue had reappeared in the game, and Minthara had a child.
Patch 8 Adds Cuts
Minthara is a powerful ally who can be recruited as both a boss and a companion. She is a Lolth-Sworn Drow and an Oath of Vengeance Paladin with Noble background. She leads a group of goblins who plan to attack on Emerald Forest in the name of their god. Although they are initially hostile, they are reunited in Act Two and he is spared from execution.
Many players have been discussing the new content on social media and in the game community, with one player telling others how to find the added dialogue in the game. From the video content, we know that Minthara can only be killed, and the player can only use Speak with Dead function on her.
In the dialogue, we can ask her some questions, and in her answers, she mentioned that she found a home for herself and her child.
However, players familiar with Minthara’s team games know clearly that Minthara did not mention children, and these dialogues are in the game folder and cannot be opened. So it should be a deleted storyline, not that Minthara had a child before the game events.
Through the undisplayed lines of other companions, Minthara seems to have found out that she is pregnant, but these lines were not triggered by Patch 8.
Many players speculate that it is likely that this update accidentally re-added Minthara’s dialogue, which also occurred in the previous update.
Because these contents have been controversial, this restoration of this dialogue has received a lot of feedback. Some players speculate that Minthara has a child and hope that the developers can keep this storyline and continue to update it.
But most fans said that they could not accept this storyline. After all, it is not in line with Minthara’s cold-blooded style. Moreover, apart from this dialogue, this update does not provide more relevant information, so this controversial dialogue that was re-added is likely to be an operational error.
At present, whether this storyline will be restarted or just an accidental error depends on the developer’s subsequent operations. Will it continue to update the storyline or remove it? In any case, the developer is still working hard to provide some small-scale updates for the game.
