With the release of ARC Raiders: Riven Tides just around the corner, the developers have finally offered a detailed breakdown of what players can look forward to in terms of new content - providing us with a comprehensive and crystal-clear first look at the upcoming map.

Alongside this announcement, the developers also released a companion trailer for the new map. We can finally sink our teeth into some actual lore content.Arc Raiders: Riven Tides Update Full Breakdown - Lore, New Map, Arc Turbine Boss & More

Today, we'll walk you through all the exciting new features and content arriving with Riven Tides update.

Lore

Situated on the western edge of Rust Belt region lies a desolate stretch of coastline. This area has been abandoned twice: first during Exodus, and again by the initial wave of survivors who, facing the relentless onslaught of Arc, failed to successfully defend this exposed settlement.

From once-bustling resorts that have long since lost their luster to towering dockyards and shipyards, you will plant your flag here and explore the secrets and treasures buried within.

In the trailer, you can hear audio logs capturing the world as it existed just before Arc Invasion - recordings that seem to pinpoint the exact moment when the situation began its rapid descent into chaos. Personally, I'm a huge fan of this kind of lore content.

Furthermore, I feel that ARC Raiders hasn't done enough to expand upon its backstory thus far. While certain missions do offer sporadic, fragmented clues - as do the cutscenes triggered upon mission completion - it remains difficult to piece together a cohesive narrative thread.

More importantly, it has been difficult to truly grasp the why behind everything that has transpired in the world of ARC Raiders up to this point. I believe that bridging the gap between the pre-cataclysm world and the post-apocalyptic present we inhabit in ARC Raiders is a crucial and meaningful step.

I'm particularly fond of the theory that THE FINALS and ARC Raiders are intimately connected - that they actually exist within the same shared universe. Under this theory, the arenas featured in THE FINALS serve as an exclusive sanctuary for the wealthy elite who managed to escape the real world. There, they watch and wager on a digitized game show purely for their own amusement, while the rest of the public is left behind to scavenge for supplies and struggle for survival amidst the ruins of the world they left behind.

It remains unclear whether this specific premise holds true. However, if ARC Raiders reveals its lore and backstory as gradually as THE FINALS does, we may have to wait quite a while before seeing any concrete evidence confirming a genuine connection between the two games.

Map Details

Additionally, we have now seen more details regarding the map itself, as well as further expansions and presentations of the scenes briefly glimpsed in last week's trailer. We discovered that the map explicitly references several Points of Interest (POIs), including Panorama Azzurro Hotel, Azzurro Beach, a restaurant, a tennis court, and a harbor area.

These areas each possess distinct environmental characteristics: the interiors of the hotel and restaurant, for instance, are relatively confined indoor spaces designed to emphasize close-quarters combat; the beach and tennis court, conversely, are open areas offering expansive lines of sight.

As for the harbor area, its design aesthetic leans heavily toward an industrial theme. Consequently, environments like the harbor feature a richer and more diverse blend of elements, ranging from the layout of cover points to the overall artistic style.

I am therefore eager to experience it firsthand - to see how one navigates these various types of terrain and to discover what secrets might be hidden within them. As it stands, this map truly seems to have it all: indoor spaces suited for close-range combat (such as the hotel and restaurant); open areas with wide visibility (like the tennis court and beach); interspersed greenery serving as open transitional zones; and a harbor area filled with multi-tiered vertical structures and lurking, exposed hazards.

We have not yet seen an overhead view or similar layout of the map, so we cannot say with certainty exactly how large it is; nevertheless, it certainly offers plenty of intriguing features to look forward to. There is also much more to discuss regarding the various threats we will face head-on within this ARC Raiders map.

Arc Threat

First off, the massive new type of Arc, which we spotted in ARC Raiders trailer, has been officially named Arc Turbine. As described, when silhouetted against the glow of the setting sun, the sight is breathtakingly beautiful. Arc Turbine floats serenely above Rust Belt; however, if you attempt to disturb it, you had best be prepared - for you will face a battle unlike any other.

Arc Turbine boasts formidable defensive capabilities, demanding a combination of exceptional skill, ample patience, and unwavering courage. If you find yourself unable to defeat Arc Turbine with ease, you can upgrade your weaponry and unlock advanced skills to bolster your combat effectiveness.

This represents an entirely new challenge. Although the information officially released so far is insufficient to allow for a detailed prediction of the specific gameplay mechanics, I personally have high expectations for this new content. After all, the sheer scale of Arc Turbine is truly massive - it is, quite simply, a colossal entity. Furthermore, in the teaser trailer, we witnessed a scene where, under specific circumstances - three of these Arcs appeared simultaneously.

Consequently, I am incredibly curious: just how potent is the combat power of these Arcs? How robust is their armor plating? After all, the official description seems to place greater emphasis on highlighting their defensive mechanisms rather than their offensive capabilities. What level of challenge will they truly pose to Raiders? And how frequently can we expect to encounter them during our raid missions? Will they appear one at a time, or as depicted in the trailer - will they descend upon us in groups of three? We can only wait and see.

Avian Alarm

Players will also be introduced to a new Raider Project titled Avian Alarm. This brand-new project will replace the existing High Gain Antenna project.

Avian Alarm requires you to construct a rudimentary security system designed to detect vibrations and atmospheric fluctuations. Players must deploy cages at buoys situated along the coastline to capture birds, which will then serve as the early-warning sensors for Avian Alarm system.

Upon completing the mission, you will earn rewards such as Doc Master detector, Gel Patches, Bird House backpack attachment, Fist In Air emote, and 250 Raider Tokens.

Beachcombing

ARC Raiders: Riven Tides introduces a new minor map condition known as Beachcombing. To engage in this activity, you will need to utilize Doc Master metal detector obtained through Avian Alarm project. This detector occupies a weapon slot; you must hold it in your hands and sweep it back and forth across the sand to unearth loot hidden beneath the surface.

We've learned that the most lucrative treasure-hunting spots tend to be located in wide-open, exposed areas. It seems we'll need to conduct a thorough search of the beaches to see exactly what kind of rewards and ARC Raiders Items we can unearth.

The last time we saw a dedicated loot pool like this was during Hurricane Caches event - an event that certainly yielded plenty of high-quality gear. Consequently, I can't help but wonder: will this new mechanic uphold that fine tradition, giving us the chance to acquire even more high-tier loot, or perhaps even some brand-new items making their debut?

Last Resort

This event runs until May 25th, giving players roughly one month to participate. During this period, no matter which map you play on, any XP you earn will be automatically converted into Merits, helping you steadily progress toward the event's objectives.

Additionally, you can earn extra Merit rewards by collecting hidden Ship Models scattered throughout the game world. The event's rewards include Junior Outfit set, Hydrologist backpack, a Hose attachment, a Brass Faucet charm, new emotes, and 250 Raider Tokens.

New Items

The developers also provided details on two new items: Crash Mat and Powered Descender. Both items are designed to mitigate fall damage.

Specifically, the developers noted that with the aid of these items, players can execute a safe - and gravity-defying - landing, even when falling from a height of 100 feet.

I'm incredibly curious: how will these two items perform in actual gameplay? How do players go about acquiring them? And what are the specific crafting processes and material requirements involved? Though, I suspect they will most likely be crafted via blueprints.

That wraps up everything revealed in the latest ARC Raiders Riven Tides update. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
